In addition to some responses, it is important to think, but it is even more important to put your thoughts into actions. Yes we might have a wonderful life- but what are we going to do about it? Are we going to enjoy it? or are we going to make it more enjoyable for others?
Personally, i believe in making life as enjoyable/easy as i can for others, but if everyone did this, would it not have the same effect as everyone making life easier for themselves?
you are all extremely bright and intelligent people, and thank you for posting here, your insights are appreciated!
(and its mankind! not manking :P)

I have wondered sometimes if anyone else ever just sat and thought about stuff like this.
I notice too many poeple in this egocentric world focusing on their own little slice of life without observing the whole piciture.
Not just what is happening in the world around us...but why it is happening and how would affect a person.
Admittedly the process of pondering does little to change the world. But it helps me keep my own highs and lows in perspective.
Added thought: Keeping my own life in perspective does encourage me to do what I can to improve things around me, but like most people my resources are limited. I can't feed the world, but I can donate to the Soup-kitchen. I can't clothe the world but I can give up unused/outgrown coats and jackets to the shelter each winter. Pass an extra umbrella to a homeless person in the rain. Little things.
Issues of a non-charitable nature...Treat people how I would like to be treated. I can pass a smile to every stranger I meet and it costs me nothing.

Yes i think, thank you and yes i ponder so eliquently stated. Manking(Mankind) can not be catagorized as inherently evil, because not all human beings have chosen to walk in darkness and pain. All our experiences have enriched who we are as humans, our choices are what lead us to regret, heartache and death. The world is a beautiful planet and our only known home. Human women have their unique gifts, as do men, to state that we are equals, well on this planet the power hungry humans are men and their decisions affect the world. Respect should be accorded to every living organism on Earth.
Society has greatness and potential, if only every nation would recognize their humanity for one another. A murderer or any criminal wants what all humans want, a happy life, the difference is how we decide to acheive this goal, hurt our fellow humans or work for the money we all need to survive on this planet. The past has been lived and learned, the present time counts more on our love and aid now. Religion is a personal choice or reflection of the individuals upbringing. Humans are searching for answers, so religion has been chosen as the focus that could shed answers to the problems certain human beings have inflicted on this planet and humanity.

I don't think that I like thinking. But I can't help myself, it seems.
Ponder about life - like I said, I can't help myself.
Its not that mankind is inherently evil, but many of his actions tend to be innocently thoughtless and inconsiderate. This situation is not helped by the fact that our interpretations of the actions of others is always highly flawed.
Things matter, but only to a specific person in a specific space and time. Hopefully, the things I do matter to me, right here, right now. Beyond that, is beyond that.
Men and women - Equally flawed, equally fascinating, equally disgusting, equally beautiful, yet differently so.
The perfect society would have less people and more nature, more space, more grace, more time.
Their minds are less active than mine, no doubt, because I think too much to rob, kill or destroy. They probably think too little.
In the future, we would have less needs. We would subsist on pills and listen to techno music. We wouldn't need so much education, because we would be born efficient.
In the past, life was more complex, as we were trying very hard to constantly improve things.
Religion is the science that satisfies those whom science does not provide sufficient satisfaction.
My influence is negative, yet positive. I want people to despair, that they might be better able to cope with reality. Not everything negative is bad. Not everything positive is good. Every action has an equal, opposite, and often unexpected, reaction.

and what kind of mind tortures people & animals and delights in it? Are they born that way or does it develop? Can a person who has been 'good' all their lives become that evil?
Why do intelligent people blindly accept religion, especially sources such as the Bible? How can an intelligent person not question the inconsistencies?
If we found that we can walk on the moon; if we discovered that flight is possible - why can't we accept that there may be life elsewhere? Why can't we accept the possibility of the paranormal? Why can't it be possible that there are spirits among us?
What do you think the world will be like after a nuclear attack - what will your role be?
Where do we really go after death? Is Reincarnation possible?
Why are our social and moral values slowly being compromised? Why are we suddenly so accepting of homosexuality? Why are so many things that used to be so taboo, becoming a way of life?
Why is it that those who do not accept homosexuality of any kind now considered to be the minority? How can homosexuality be normal?

I think he meant mankind and they may not be inherently evil but they are not inherently good either... anyways "I think there for I am" is one of my favorite sayings. I love to think its a great way to pass the time.
Ah and on the perfect society thing I don't believe there can be a "perfect" society because nothing can be perfect for to be perfect is to be perfectly imperfect it's an impossibility one of many that we use in speech like always and never. Anyways no humans are quarlsome, behavior driven creatures who will probably never get along well enough to have a society anywhere near "perfect". If men treatred women as equals then men would have to treat other men as equals as well which will take alot of work, but it would be very nice if it ever happens.
As for what we do in this life and if it matters I believe yes but only to those still living not to the dead.
Hmm what goes through a murderer's or a thief's mind during a crime "billions of bits of data" no seriously I think that would really depened on the individual commiting the crime.
Life in other time periods; well personally I would have loved the middle ages, It has a very personal attraction to me being that my family has a lot of history in that era.
Religion... I'm an Aethiest I believe in no god, I believe there may be biengs so far evolved that to us they are comprable to gods but other than that I do not believe in them. A good amount of what drove me to Aethiesm are the crimes of Monotheistic and Polytheistic Religions. Poly's are not so bad but Mono's tend to kill massive amounts of people trying to make them believe in thier god. Mono's are responsible for millions of deaths and almost the extinction of an entire race of humans through Biowarfare. That drove me personally very far from Mono's. I really don't have an issue with Poly's they tend to accept other peoples beliefs without much blood shed. Where as Aethiest tend to accept everyone as equal and don't care what they believe in. I'm of the mind of accept first return judgement later, so i chose Aetheism.
All in all I accept everyone as they are most days and I always try to be curtious to everyone "which seems to freak city folk out..." at the end of the day thinking is my best friend. If I misspelled anything sorry the spell check is refusing to work.

No one has a choice but to think; some just do it more than other. OK, you're right some people can't even think; but some are put here to specifically think, figure things out and pass it on to those who can't figure it out. I don't feel we have enough of those or they're not doing will.
Too many things gets in the way of all our thinking and passing it on.

yes i think about all of the things that you have mentioned and i brood over my daily events as well. i tend to read between the lines and critically observe my surroundings. i think its definitely a postive thing to be reflective and perceptive...thats how we distinguish right from wrong and help other people to realize the more profound issues in life!

To answer your question, yes, I love to think about all those things you mentioned. I don't know what "manking" is, however, and am interested in why it is inherently evil. Lol.

I do think about all that stuff and more. People always tell me I think too much. I am learning to just relax a little and work on me and not worry too much about what everyone else is doing. I can only change me.

Do you ponder about life? YES I DO, ALLOT. WILL I MAKE IT INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD?
Why mankind is inherently evil? IT IS BECAUSE HE (MAN), WAS TAUGHT THROUGH SATAN'S WAYS. HE IS ALIVE AND HE DOES NOT WANT US ALIVE. HE IS AT WAR WITH GOD.
Does anything we do in this life really matter when we die? IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU DO. IF YOU DO FOR GOD, THE CREATOR, YES IT DOES. IF FOR YOUR SELF, NO IT WILL NOT. YOU WILL PASS AWAY FROM THIS LIFE.
What would the world be like if men treated women as their equals and with respect? KINDER AND MOST LOVING AND OF GOD CALLING THEM SELVES CHILDREN OF GOD.
What the perfect society would be like? (And if one could at all exist?) THE KINGDOME OF GOD. MAN CAN'T DO IT. OUR HSITORY HAS PROVEN THAT BUT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GOD.
What goes through a murderer's/thief's mind when they commit their crimes? THEY DON'T THINK BUT FOR THEIR SELFISH SELVES.
How life would have been like in other time periods? THE SAME AS NOW EXCEPT LESSER SCALE BECAUSE OF LESS PEOPLE. RMEMBER GREECE, ROMAN, NOPOLIAN?
Why religion is such a big part of the world? IT IS HOW GOD STARTED ALL OF US ON A JOURNEY TO BE WITH HIM THROUGH HIS SON'S ACTIONS. IT WAS NEVER INTENDED FOR MAN TO DIE BUT TO LIVE FOREVER AS HIS CHILDREN AND IT WILL BE SO SOMEDAY.
Sometimes we all need to sit down, think, and reflect on our lives. AGREED AND WE NEED TO MAKE OUR SELVES MORE LOVING AND MORE GODLY.
Are we making a positive influence on the world? NO, BUT GOD IS AND HE WILL TAKE BACK WHAT IS HIS ONE DAY. ONE DAY MAN WILL SEE HE IS NOT MATURE ENOUGH IN THIS UNIVERSE TO MAKE HIS OWN DISESSIONS. UNTIL THAT TIME WE ARE AT WAR WITH THINGS WE CANNOT SEE.
(Eph 6:12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].( SATAN , LUCIFER, DEVIL and HIS DEMONS )
I'll Trust in God through his son because there is no man I can trust. He is just like me under the same influences.
