I know when we got married, the church was very anamate that we were not living together before the wedding. My friend got married about a year later to a guy she was living with, and every church she talked to (including mine) wanted them to live apart for six months before they'd marry them. (they got married by a Justice of the Peace) My brother and his finacee are living together now, and plan to get married in a Catholic church. They claim they've never been asked for her address. Is this common? Is it a "don't ask, don't tell" thing?

If this were an ideal world where everyone played by the rules and behaved like the churches would want of all of us then this would not be a problem, but even for a church to require this nowadays is absurd. It just doesnt happen. With the high divorce rate today, the churches should just be happy that anyone would want to still get married at all. The churches can require such but has to bend or probably face a total decline in marriages as tthere are now more live-in relationships than actual marriages. If it comes down to dont volunteer information to get married in a church then so be it. I think God would rather have you married in a church then living together in sin. Good luck
