him or her i hate people who call their pets "it" it is so ignorent...

Well, I have a tendency to call any animal I see, "him" because...well I don't really know. It's just, like, automatic. Ex.-->"Aww, he's such a cute cat!" I'll say that to any new cat I meet until the owner tells me otherwise, and the same goes with all animals. Yet if I see a dog or a raccoon somewhere, I'll say, "it," because I didn't meet it or I don't know it. And if I definately know what gender an animal is, I'll for surely refer to it as "him" if's a boy or "her" if it's a girl. By the way people, I LOVE ANIMALS TO DEATH!!! Sorry, but I had ta say that.

If you know the gender then you call the animal him/her, depending. If you DONT know the gender, then look to find out, if the animal is not hostile towards you and is comfortable enoguh with you. Calling an animal an It is rude, even if you think its just an animal.

i call most animals "him" cause most of them look like guy animals to me. (i think the guy animals are cuter.) but if the animal is like a fluffy kitty or a dog with a bow in its hair then i'll call it "her."
