I heard from a friend of mine that the village people quit after making enough money to retire on in a large mansion where they would have these really big, gay orgies. Is this true? Were the village people really gay, or were they just playing, or were they just the victims of a merely sinister assumption? Are all members alive today? And is it true that the Indian ran a casino with his share of the money? Why is there so little information about the village people?

Oh, and disregard the previous dumb entries and questions under this account. This is a family account and its natural to expect inconsistencies. No, I am not a troll unlike other members of my family.

Yeah, I need to know this for a research paper that I am doing. Can anybody please find out and give me a good answer to all of my question? I would gladly appreciate it.

Yeah I would say most, if not all are gay. After disco started fading....so did they, but you can still see them performing today. All the original members are still performing, the original biker guy is not there any longer. I think he died a few years back.

Alex Briley, Soldier (original)

Its funny how stories go around.

They were a band/group who consisted of mainly gay members.....they didn't retire....but disco died and so did gigs. Last I heard...only one died.

the were the first openly gay group that hit the main-stream...a very big achievement.

UPDATE: to answer all you quetions...they did not quit after making money to retire and have gay orgies. At least one member was straight (cop), not victim of sinister assumption..that I've heard of, One member is dead, there is no information about the indian running a casino....sounds like a tacky joke.

Pam is right. I saw a documentary on (I think) MTV. Other musicians from that era were commenting on the Village People being the first of the underground gay groups to break out into the mainstream. (Well what passed for mainstream disco back then.) Kudos Village People.

They do not know for sure, but mayber some were gay and some were straight. Each member of the band was dressed as forms of masculinity to emphasize their song lyrics that hid homosexually charged innuendo.
