I know of a family that had 4 kids......they were first cousins, and they ended up having 4 kids with learning disabilities....and downs syndrome......

So I would say no...do not have kids unless you are prepared to have kids with many challenges.....

There are some consequences, but they are not the same on all cases. some people think it isn't to have babies in that situation. I think it depends. My mom's cousin got marry with her cousin and they are real cousins. Today they have two kids, both are boys and they are perfectly fine. It depends on each one particular case. for more information, consult a doctor and ask someone who is professional in that subject.

If it was legal to marry in your state, you can have a baby. If you are truly concerned about inbreeding problems you can go get your genetics sequenced. Have them looked over for health abnormalities. Usually though no adverse health problems will arise in first time inbreeding.

Congratulations on your marriage, and good luck.

edit - I just checked. In some states it is legal for first cousins to marry but one must be sterile. Check you state laws.

Before you got married you should have gone for genetic counseling. However, my uncle and aunt are first cousins and their two adult sons are normal. But check it out with an expert before you get pregnant. Your family histories might be a factor.

your gonna do it regardless, but if you thought it was ok to marry your cousin then i dont think it would be an issue to you to have a baby with him.

usually you would have to marry your cousin to have a major malfunction.

some of these people are just plain stupid with their answers. do some research before you speak or give anyone any advice. Some of you are straight abusing this Q&A thing. If your FATHER & his FATHER are not of brothers, that means your gene pools are pretty much completely different. Mix it all you want, if it's legal in your state. But if they are brothers, then NO!!!
