Why do people say that men come from Mars and women come from Venus?

Hmm.... now I always thought the obvious interpretation was that Mars is the god of war, while Venus is the god of love. In other words, the reason men and women often seem incompatible is because they are from two different planets (personality-wise.)

This is said as a joke because of the fact that men and women are so different in some ways that it seems we come from separate planets. Since Venus is the Roman goddess of love, it makes sense that "women are from Venus" because of the fact that we tend to be more emotionally driven, whereas men tend to be more logically driven.
