It's about 51% for women and 50% for men which is a negligible difference. Some people(women) like to use the old statistics where it was 26% for women and 50% for men.
That means 1 out of every 2 person cheats... 1 of the spouses in a marriage will cheat? Just don't get married and you won't have to worry about it. That's where we are heading anyways.

I hear men still cheat more but women cheat better
Id say 50/50. Men will cheat just for the sex they are only thinking of the immediate pleasures and usually only care about what the other woman looks like, they dont think about the consequences unless they are unhappy in their current relationships and plan on leaving. Women think about the over picture there futures when cheating & usually cheat with the potential avenue of replacing the one they are cheating on and usually go for someone better looking and they probally will have more money unless they are stupid

In the males between 18-30 seem to cheat more mostly because their greedy and horny, however Males 45-60 cheat cause they are going through a midlife crisis and have the need to be someones suga daddy.
Women cheat more in the ages 18-25 then 35-45 mostly ause they are unhappy in there relationships.

Thats just my opinion

I see a therapist, and she has access to a lot of information on this sort of thing. She says that married men cheat twice as often as married women, and typically when they cheat they do it with multiple partners and on more of a one night stand sort of basis. When women do cheat, they typically have "affairs", where they are cheating both physically and emotionally--and usually it's the emotionally part that means the most to them, not necessarily the sex. The actual statistics, as one of the other posters suggested, are really impossible to collect, because you can only sample a certain portion of the public, and then you have to account for whether they are telling the truth about something that is innately dangerous to thier marriages. You also have to account for what you consider cheating...specifically sexual intercourse? Kissing? Flirting? Emotional affairs online? What you end up with is just the fact that in a basic reporting group, somewhere between 40% and 50% of married men have reported cheating on thier partner and somewhere between 25% and 35% of married women have reported cheating. This is the largest group sampled that my therapist can find, and the definition of "cheating" was left up to the people reporting, so in those statistics you might have someone who said no to cheating because they have never actually had sex with someone, but they have flirted, kissed, chatted online, etc., and just don't consider that cheating. Again, the best you're going to find is the fact that married men statistically cheat twice as often as married women, and they tend to do it for more sexual reasons, while women tend to cheat emotionally a lot more than men.

I consider anything that you are sneaky about and don't want your spouse to know your doing with another person of the opposite sex-cheating. So sad to say but I think the percentage is 60% cheat. Now if I would of been answering this question a year ago; I would of said 50%. It is horrible that so many people commit adultery and probably only half of that number feel some guilt from doing that to their spouse and kids.

I recently heard that just as many wives cheat as husbands cheat these days. 40% of spouses admit to cheating sometime in their marriage. Financial problems are still the #1 reason for divorce however.

Since the divorce rate is about 50%, I'd guess that the percentage of infidelity is pretty close to that. Probably 40-45%.
