Is that the only reason? If so, then that's stupid.
If that's just an excuse, then the real reason she doesn't want to get married needs to be found. Keep in mind though that he is a 31 year old doctor, he's still attractive and makes good money to boot. If she doesn't marry him, there's no shortage of 21 year old girls that are more than willing.

I personally don't think it is stupid, as long as an individual meets the age of consent. Age is just a number and if two people are genuinely in love they should not allow age difference to get in their way of happiness, true love is sometimes hard to find and if you finds it with someone that is ten (10) years older go for it, a life without love is no life at all.

The young woman should only marry the doctor if it is what she wishes - not if anyone is forcing her or for any other reason. If she doesn't feel that she loves him or could ever love him and doesn't want to marry him, she shouldn't. Period.
There's nothing stupid about not marrying someone she doesn't want, no matter what he does. Plus, being only 21, she needs to find out more about herself before she commits to any relationship as important as marriage.
Good luck!

Depends. Are you in love with him or do you just enjoy his money and lifestyle. If it is the money thing and you don't want to marry, just tell him you like the lifestyle, but marriage doesn't work for you. Make up a story about how all your family and friends have been married and divorced so many times, that you can't see making a committment that will ultimately lead to divorce. Or just seek some one else that you can get along with better.

Refuse is a strong word but she should really evaluate the relationship. That is a huge age difference ....it would be different if she was say 28 and he was 38.....
She still has a lot of seeds to sow....thats just too young to get married not to mention..to a guy 10 yrs. older.

NO, NO, That is only 10 years. I've a';ways wanted to a marry, a doctor. They know where everything is located,, marry that man don't let him get away. He has security, already all set for life. Oh, what a good deal you are getting, if you decide you don't want him ,let me know and I'll pick him right up straight to the courthouse and get them license. what a lucky girl you are.WOW

What's "stupid" is your question. My husband and I have been married for 34 years, he's 12 years older than me.
Obviously if both partners were "mature" and "deeply in love", that wouldn't be an issue. I think you sound way too young to get "married".
Good luck.

Stupid........if they love each other age should not make a difference. My best friend is married to a woman who is 13 years younger than us, and they have been together for 11 years now, she is 30 and he is 43.
