Happy Sunday, Exemplars! Thanks - now I have the theme song from Bonanza running through my head!! Deep Purple - Machine Head is awesome. It has so many of their hits on it. I also like the one they did in the 80's. It's called Perfect Strangers. Neil Young - Harvest is a great one - lots of his best on that one as well. I also recommend After The Gold Rush. Talking Heads - Their debut album, Talking Heads 77 is good (it has Psycho Killer). I like Speaking In Tongues for "Burning Down The House".

I'll tell you a story:
There was this old Chinese village that was suffering terribly from drought, and the harvest has failed and the lands were dry and the people were desperate to make it rain, they needed it to, so badly, they sacrificed their own people, and begged and prayed and stressed so much over it that in the end they had to invite a old man, a rainmaker to come and work his magic.
So they sent for the sage and when we arrived he was swamped with people wnating to know how he was going to make it rain, when?? Soon?? And his reply was to leave him be in a little hut, with no tools, just himself.
Perplexed, the villagers waited eagerly for it to rain, the first and second days pastand they faith in the man was waneing when finally on the 3rd day the rain came.
Elated they asked the man how he did it, to which he responded, something like
There are some things, you just can't make happen
Some things you just have to wait for
Somethings are simply out of your control and you simply have to be patient and trust that the natural order will prevail.
This story is depicted with a very beautiful character in Chinese and it translates loosley into
By itself so
OR
Let things happen
for me, this is so sacred that i have it tatooed on me, as a constant reminder that i sometimes have to relinquish wanting to control things and just go with the flow.
Another is, we've got nothin to lose except boredom
and another is
let life ride you!!

Well, it's not exactly a philosophy, is it?? All you're saying is that you can't sit about being introspective you have to get on with whatever it takes to maintain your day on day existance. Otherwise it all falls apart. And, let's face it, that is pretty obvious really, isn't it??
Too divine for you that you can deal with all your responsibilities and recline in your back seat.... For those of us who find life a little more desperate I would say ' Courage - and shuffle the cards!'

Have no regrets...
you're bound to knock up a few along the way but if you can make a conscious effort to think about what your choices are and the effects they could have you will (hopefully) be much happier when you choose the path that is best for you. I don't want to get to 80 and think I wish I'd tried that or gone there.... :o)

well, i'm a nihilist so i pretty much believe everything in life is really pointless and people put way too much emphasis on their own lives and work and society's expectations of them. i mean, we're all gonna day some day and after that nothing we've done will really mean anything... so why not live life to the fullest and do whatever you want when you want? some people think that my philosophy on life is just pessimistic or that perhaps i am depressed, but i stick by what i believe and it works for me. i'd rather have fun doing what i want from day to day and not caring what people think about me than trying to live up to society's standards and expectations and never actually "living"...
i actually think that life won't wait is a pretty good description for my philosophy as well... in a completely different context of course, since our beliefs are different... but when tim says: "Mental slavery with the clever disguise, Our prides on our people must rise, Decide your fate but life won't wait" i see it as him saying that we're all gonna die in the end anyways and life won't wait for us to live to the fullest if we don't do what we want soon. just my opinion...

Donot conform to the worlds cage of ritualistic money making....Accumulation of goods does not make my life better, its makes it merely stationed and unmoved...Experience everything and anything on all different levels and admire others opions without ridicule or justification....The world is a playground, always give back what You take from the Earth and You will be rewarded with blessings...Life is too short to dwell on Your demons...

Walk a mile in my shoes - then judge me ............ one of my favourites!
Its so easy to jump to conclusions about people but you can't always tell whats really going on underneath the surface until you get to know them. I don't like people prejudging me so I don't do it with them.
