I'm really glad that the internet exists as it's opened up so many learning opportunities for people! It's great for kids and students gathering information and revising for exams. I use it to look up hundreds of things but I do kind of regret ever having found this site because I think I'm an addict!! Going back to your original question, I don't think it could ever replace books. Even though you can find out a lot here, in my opinion, you just can't beat the feeling of leafing through real pages! I love to curl up with a good bit of contemporary fiction myself which is hard to access on the internet, and nowhere near as nice- and bad for your eyes!!

I still read books
I use the internet for research purposes, but more often than not I use both in conjunction with each other.
I can't imagine researching a subject for an essay without using the local libraries extensive book and journal collection and using the internet for more upto date stuff.
The internet will never substitute the reading of books, just like film never did and never will.

The internet will never replace books entirely. There is something satisfying about having a book in your hands and turning the pages. A book can be the perfect escape when things are stressful and when you just want to relax...you can't get that from the internet - not unless they give everyone free access and broadband!

Like anything, the internet has its advantages and disadvantages.
I find reading off a computer screen is a real strain on the eyes, and it would certainly take the pleasure out of reading fiction. I don't think anything can compare to the satisfying feeling of holding a brand new hardback book, turning the pages one by one as you get drawn into the story.

No. It's like a supplement for books, e.g. reading HP fanfic to tide yourself over until JKR churns out the next one.
For this and many other reasons (shopping, research, communication with friends overseas) I love the internet and think it's one of the best things ever.

Probably for young people who don't like to be bothered with spelling or how to read a decent sentence. But for me, reading books, written on paper or parchment or vellum is the only way to go. But maybe that is just me. Or you too. Happy reading, ENJOY

I read just as much as I did pre-net. But it is easier to research non-fiction topics on the WWW, so most of my book reading is fiction.
