The kingdom Protista consists of all the organisms that do not fit into any other kingdom. This kingdom is simply for the misfits that still fit some of the requirements. Slime Mold contains properties of several other kingdoms, like most members of the Protista kingdom, but do not soley fit into any other kingdom, making it only suitable to be classified as a protist.
