Worried, you are not going to like what I have to say. This is tough love talking. YOU can't do anything. Your subject is going to have to help himself. He will have to get to the very bottom probably, and even then may slip a time or two.
How do I know? I am the child of a severe alcoholic who died of liver disease from alcoholism. He would not get help either. Your alcoholic's wife did the right thing. He will tell you so himself. Alcoholism is a horrible disease, and many times AA doesn't even help. Dear worried, I wish peace in your heart and mind. Your alcoholic is going to have to save himself or self destruct. I am sorry for you. Many AA programs have a family support. You should check it out. You have my prayers and thoughts. Seriously. Nana

to do nothing. there's nothing you or any one else can do to help him.i would stay as far away from this man as you can get. if a man want change for his wife or children then he sure want change for you. you can not help some one that does not want help. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. the more you try to help him the more you become his enabler
