This book has been on my mind for days and I have no idea what it's called! I read it in middle school but I'm a senior in highschool now. It's driving me crazy. All I know is that there was a girl who was like a keeper of an underground labyrinth and it was dark down there and there wasn't supposed to be any noise. Also there wasn't supposed to be any noise so they wouldn't wake the beast or something to that matter. The whole book if I can remember is like this. Then there is this guy that comes along into the labyrinth and the girl spies on him or something. I know it exists and I can't find this book. I read it in middle school so it's probably a children's book or at least grade 6-8. Please anyone, if you know what it is please tell me! Thanks!

Based on your description, I think it might be "The Tombs of Atuan" by Ursula K. LeGuin. It's the second book in her Earthsea Cycle series, and one of my favorites! Hope this is right, but if it isn't you should read it anyway.

The plot sounds like the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Ariadne, King Minos' daughter, gave Theseus a spool of thread which enabled him to trace his path out of the labyrinth and avoid being sacrificed/killed by the Minotaur.

Could it be one of these titles?
Geraldine McCaughrean, Theseus (2005)
Louise Lamprey, Children of Ancient Greece (1924)
Eleanor Farjeon, Ariadne and the Bull (1945)
André Gide, Theseus (1946)
Florence B. Anderson, Black Sail (1948)
Roger Lancelyn Green, Mystery at Mycenae (1957)
Mary Renault, The King Must Die (1958)
Althea Urn, Five Miles from Candia (1959)
Mary Renault, The Bull from the Sea (1962)
Ian Serraillier, The Way of Danger (1962)
June Rachuy Brindel, Ariadne (1980)
June Rachuy Brindel, Phaedra (1985)
Tony Robinson & Richard Curtis, Theseus: The King Who Killed the Minotaur (1988)
Fred Saberhagen, Ariadne's Web (2000)
