USC will be 8-1 in their conference playing teams with a combined record of 54-51. Florida will be 8-1 in their conference playing teams with a combined record of 71-38. For everyone focused on USC's out of conference schedule, their conference schedule makes up 75% of their games, so in turn its 3 times as important.
USC's big wins:
Nebraska - lost to Oklahoma St. and Texas, who have not been very good this year, only win over top 25 team is over Texas A&M, not impressive.
Notre Dame - smoked by both Mich. and USC, only ranked team they beat was Penn State...not impressive.
California - DRILLED by Tennessee, game was over in 1 half. Also beaten by USC and ARIZONA...hasnt beaten anyone worth mentioning, not impressive.
Arkansas - starting RB/QB were both out for well over half of the game and their backups had 4 turnovers between them, this is USC's only real impressive win.
Florida has beaten LSU (#5) and Tenn. (#16) and if they beat Arkansas (#9) thats much

more impressive than what USC has done. Come one USC's conference is pathetic. 4th in the nation at best. 54-51 is their record compared to 71-38 for the SEC. 7 of the 9 conf. opponents Florida faced had a winning record, only 1 with a losing record. Only 4 of the 9 conf. opponents for USC had a winning record and 2 had a losing record.
Whats ur argument now? Tougher schedule? Not a chance I just proved it...so what is it now?

The non-conf. is 3 games...the conf. is 9 games. Its easier to win those 3 games when they are spread out across a 12 game span where 9 of them are against weaker opponents. Florida has to play tough opponents back to back to back to back while USC plays 1 here and there. They stack their non-conf. and u call it more important? How can 3 games be more important than 9? That doesnt make any sense whatsoever. Of course Florida isnt gonna do that, they need a rest from actually playing a tough schedule while USC uses it to their luxury. Its a load of crap. Someone else makes the case that Arkansas' 3rd string QB is starting...well against USC their backup QB and RB played over 80% of the game and were the cause of 4 turnovers...thats why it was so lopsided. Put a healthy McFadden and Mustain on the field and its not nearly the same...maybe not a W but def. not the same...

I'm a huge Florida fan so I am biased. Just to get that out of the way.
I strongly believe Florida deserves more respect then they get, but I think this year is all about the BIG 10. The truth of the matter is the SEC is PACKED full of talent, and the teams there beat the crap out of each other. So rarely does any one team make it out of the division without some sort of blemish.
How a person can say Florida looked anything but great this past Saturday is beyond me. Just look at Florida States rushing yards! Also understand Florida State is 10th in the nation for defense. Take that into account and that Florida is at FL ST., then take away two key players to their offense(Wynn & Harvin). Show me another team that could play without their two KEY players and win. OSU w/out Troy Smith? Ark w/out McFadden? USC w/out Booty and Jarrett? All of them wouldn't last against Florida State with out their KEY players.
I had posted a question earlier titled "BCS a bunch of crock?" and it touches on the whole USC thing, and it's pretty sad and upsetting when you look at it.

Every team that plays against USC brings their "A game" to the table.
Florida State did not even have an A game this year; yet, they almost beat Florida.
USC's nonconference games were Arkansas, Nebraska, and perenial rival, Notre Dame. How can you dispute the strength of these three potentially-bowl game-bound teams with a straight face?
And, facing Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA during a 5-week period is pretty tough, as well.
When Arkansas beats Florida, this debate will be a moot point.
Besides, I would place Michigan higher than Florida.
FIGHT ON!

Kentucky is a good team, but not great. I would say they have a decent chance at Louisville, Tennessee, South Carolina and maybe Arkansas(Arkansas being the toughtest of this group). But no way with Florida. The east will be as follows. 1 Florida 2 Georgia 3 Tennessee 4 Kentucky 5 South Carolina 6 Vanderbilt

Nice try. But how convenient is it to ignore the fact that Florida's non-conference opponents were 20-27 (20-23 if you don't count their results vs. Florida), while USC's were 29-7 (29-4 if you don't count their results vs. USC)? The season is not only conference opponents but non-conference as well, and I would place more emphasis on the non-conference games, as those are the games the schools themselves actually chose to play, vs. the conference setting the schedule for them.
Add that in and USC's opponents would be 83-58 (0.589), while Florida's are 91-65 (0.583).
Advantage Trojans.

It's simple Florida looked average last week. USC stomped Notre Dame there's your BCS opponent Ohio State vs USC. Unless Booty gets hit by a truck and Jarret doesn't show up Sat.
All the rest don't even matter.

The one major point your forgetting is florida has to play those SEC teams every year and USC goes beyond and schedules hard non conference games(ND,NEB, ARK). You FORGOT to mention USC blew Arkansas out by 5 touchdowns in week one with a QB making his first start.
I would be suprised if Flordia beats Ark. though b/c Ark is starting Casey Dick(the third string QB) who, if you look at his stats against LSU, is the SEC's worst quarterback.and b/c Dick sucks so bad the Ark running back is linning up under center(he's much better). If Mitch Mustain (he's Ark starter)played against Florida, flordia would lose.

a good attempt at analysis, but you still haven't convinced me.
if the voters in the AP, USA Today and Harris polls voted USC as the #2 team, then they probably are. don't you think that they know more about college football than you do?
USC has obviously convinced the pollsters that they are the number #2 team. instead of making your case on yahoo answers, why don't you make it with the pollsters? let's see how far that gets you...

Here's an eye-opener: If you reference the mean (i.e. "average") ranking of all 119 1-A football teams, the average ranking of the SEC is 35 - and the average ranking of the Pac-10 is 37. Certainly no one walks around championing the Pac-10 as "the toughest conference", even though their strength is statistically equivalent to the SEC.
Using the same source, we see that the average ranking of every team USC has beaten is 35; the average ranking of every team Florida has beaten is 44. Yet, according to Urban Meyer, Florida deserves more than the rest of us because, "they're in the SEC."

You can argue all you want, but the system itself sucks. Division 1 needs to go to a playoff system, like D2 and 3 and way we don't have to listen to everyone whin about their team being left out.
