I've heard some people say things like they have actually seen angels or heard the voice of God speak to them. Some others have said they sometimes see a person's aura and it warns them about people who may mean them harm or tells them who is good. If you had one of these types of experiences, or someone told you they did, would you consider it a confirmation of your spirituality or a sign of mental illness? How would you tell the difference?

Having visions and hearing voices is a sign of high anxiety, extreme tension, brain chemistry malfunction, brain injuries. Dreams may be your body talking to itself giving directions to heal itself, or how to get out of a stressful situation. Abnormal brain chemistry can distort our vision to pick up electro-magnetic auras. Whole religions are built upon one persons visions and others superstitions. Your vision may be just concerning yourself and not meant for every one to obey. Are you obsessing over the supreme being choosing you to deliver a special message to humanity? Just make sure it doesn't go against natural law, or you know it's not for the good of mankind. What did you see and hear? Some people who deal with this can interpret them somewhat. Get a second opinion, though

Okay just for fun, regarding auras... TRY this. Have someone stand agains a solid white/light colored wall. Look at the center of their forehead where the "3rd eye" is supposed to be then let your eyes daydream there. Pretty soon you will see an aura! You can see the colors, dark spots, etc... Try it on different people to see different colors.

neither, but most of the time, it will be a subconsious thought i.e. the vision is probably something that I thought of before and continued to think of during my sleep. We all like to think of our divinity, but if that is the case, earth would have been a land full of prophets or very good thieves, for they also get visions.

Neither a hallucination or a revelation. You would just know it was God talking to you.

i'd say it was a hallucination. but just because it's a hallucination, doesn't mean you cant learn from it.
