Tell the other teams to stop losing (see Louisville, Rutgers, etc.) after them and USC wouldn't have moved up. That's the system.
With that being said, a true champion won't be decided until there is a playoff system. I'm not holding my breath though.

I'm with you. Not exactly with the USC thing, but what about the Wisconsin Badgers? They are 11-1 and their only loss was to Michigan. Any other year, the Badgers would be in the BCS, but because the big ten already has two teams in the BCS, the badgers don't get to go. I think the rules that the BCS has that each major conference gets to be represented, only two teams from a conference go to a BCS game, and any other retarded rule they have should be thrown out. If a third place team from one conference(Badgers) is better than the first place team from another confernce, that third place team should be able to go. Just get the best teams in the nation and play the bowl games.

it's important to remember that a large part of what decides a team's ranking in the BCS is dependent on the opinions of individuals. with that in mind, it's easy to jump on the USC bandwagon, especially after Pete Carroll has hugely boosted their program over the last 5 years, they field a fast and flashy offense, and rockstars and actors turn out for their more hyped-up games (like James Caan [The Godfather pt.I and II, The Program] for the Notre Dame game).
Usc probably is a little over-ranked, especially over Florida. Assuming they beat UCLA next saturday, USC will be 8-1 in their conference against teams with combined records of 54-51. If Florida beats Arkansas this weekend, they will be 8-1 in their conference against teams with combined records of 71-38.
personally, i can't speak for all of those who voted so that USC ended up being BCS #2 this week and why they voted that way. Sometimes, however, it sure seems like because of a combination of their location, recent acheivements, media favor, and fan base that people might be cheering (or voting) for them because it's the cool thing to do.

Yeah it really does. Some other teams really don't get the respect they deserve from the BCS either. I can remember when TCU beat out Oklahoma and and had a one loss season last year and they have also beaten the crap out of every Big 12 team they have faced too. They were never ranked in the top 25 very highly and now they aren't even in it. The whole TCU thing is just an example.

Well it seems if they dropped five spots when they lost to an unranked team, they should have gained the same when they won against an unranked team, whats the beef? They are back where they started.

When you put it that way it does sound unfair, but USC still has to beat UCLA. Florida if they beat Arkansas has a valid argument, but might come up short.
