From a Christian, they would mean that God has to direct your steps if you want to be in perfect time with everything. From anywhere else, it could mean anything. It's really flesh vs. spirit. Flesh never wins, while spiritual connection has real power.

In other words, it's not good to be too clingy or demanding. Your loved ones should stay with you because they want to, not because they're forced to.

For me I think it means that when you're dating someone don't get to close to fast because if you do then you'll probably end up getting hurt.
