They've been used in Roman times but thats about the same time the people started writing things down. It probably came before that. Nails not like today's but mabye looked close to it or had the same purpose.

There is no actual person who applied for a patent for the nail. Nails have been used long before even the written word. you can see how for example, ancient greece had ships that used nails. Then before that too. I guess it came about a little later than the wheel.

Nobody invented it silly...They just grow on the end of your fingers and toes.

Actually it was Angus Mcnail of the lower Scotish Highlands who invented the common nail in 3401 BC, so his hammer had something to do.

Unfortunately the first nails were made out of mud, because that's just about all they had in those days, because their homes were weak and fell apart... because the nails were made out of mud.

The screw was indeed invented by this man, but I don't know if he thought of the nail too-- it seems only logical.

unknown because the early ones were handmade by blacksmiths ( they replaced wooden pegs ) but the cut wire nail was machine made and should be an easy web search
