You can still open IE whenever you want. Being the primary or DEFAULT browser only means that FireFox will come up when you click on a link from Outlook or Outlook Express.
You can never get rid of IE. But you need it for Windows Updates and other ActiveX based websites.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

You can use Firefox and IE on the same computer. The reason you not getting IE to open can be many things. Check if any other pages can open... it might be the home page cannot be accessed. If that not the case, IE might be corrupted or has been infected, or your security settings of IE prevents it from accessing the internet. Check your IE settings, another webpage in the URL and finally scan your system for virus or spyware.

You can still use IE. Your internet connection shouldn't have anything to do with it. I've used both browsers simultaneously.
Check Mozilla's web site, though---there was a news item the other day about hackers having access to your person information via Firefox, and they were working on a patch.

No. You can use IE as long as it is installed on your computer. Making firefox your primary browser just means that you computer will self select that browser first whenever you go onto the Internet.

You should be able to use both with no probs. I had 7 browsers on my computer at one time, and they lived happily together like ebony and ivory side by side on a keyboard - wasn't that a John Lennon song? Oh well. anyway
I recommend you avoid IE like the plague though.
United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

No. Just put IE on your desktop so that you can click it if you need it.
I do that and it works.
If yours is not working it is because you have a problem in your IE installation, not because of the two browsers both being on your PC.

You should have no problems using both. Try cleaning your cache etc. in IE. You may have to check your internet connection settings.
