My friend and I walked along a pavement on a wet day. The rainbow went from infront of us, like a flyover , up into the sky and around to our right. I thought it was nice, but was told weeks later by a pal that you can't be at the end of a rainbow. If thats true, I will just have to accept it. I find it strange that my friend and I saw the same 'unreal' rainbow. We hadn't been drinking!

of course you can't a rainbow is sunlight reflected in raindrops. The light is broken up into the light spectrum and you see the colours because of the angle of reflection. As you go towards it the angle changes so the colours are now coming from a different point where the angle is correct

Interesting trivia. If you look at the center of the circle formed by a rainbow, you will see the shadow of your head.

And no, you can never be at the end of it.

It's impossible to be at the end because the illusion is caused by refraction, viewing at an angle, somebody at a different place to you will not even see it.
