why is it desirable to know the exact concentration of solutions rather than whether they are concentrated or dilute ?????

because it is more accurate when we know the exact concentration of solutions than when we know whether they are concentrated or dilute. if one person thinks that it is concentrated, maybe others don't think so

The exact concentration is a quantitative number. Whether they are concentrated or dilute is qualitative.

Sometimes it doesn't matter, but if you are doing a quantitative analysis, you need to know your reagents as accurately as possible to get good results.
