I have a friend who chose this name for a boy or a girl. It just so happens she is having a boy. She did have a different spelling for a girl though. So, for a boy, it'd be Avery, for a girl, Averi.

If it's a pretty name or not is really subjective. It's great as it stands alone in your question above. How it flows with the middle and last name will also make a difference.

i like it, but you have to take this is hand.. Avery is more of a boy name. What will people think of you are her when you tell them her names is Avery. What will the kids say about her name when she is growing up. Will they tease her. So me, I would go with a traditional (or unique) name... anything that ends with an 'a' (UH) is a girl name. My name is Raina. Sometimes I wish my mom would not of named me that. But I respect that she chose that, so I would never change it. I would go with something like Amanda, Alison, or Anna if you are looking for something with a name. Just a suggestion!

I like it. I would make the middle name more of a girl name, since Avery is more commonly known as a boy name. But then again, some good friends of mine just named their girl Chayse (chase) and I think its cute. Who cares if its supposedly a boy/girl name? Many of the names are being used for both genders nowadays. For example, Logan, Cameron, Preston were all known as boys names but now are common for girls as well. I would keep it!

Avery is a good name... it's of English origin and it means "Ruler of the Elves"... if you like the whole fairy tale land idea, this i DEFINITELY a name you want to you... just avoid a middle name that ends with the "ee" sound.

And don't listen to those who say it's a boys name... I've only heard it for girls... and MANY names can be used for both boys and girls, like Daryl, Mackenzie, Zoe, Devon, Brady... heck, I even knew a girl named Dallas once!

If you like it, use it!

Avery is a name of Old English origin....meaning elf. It can also be used for boys as well as girls. It's a pretty name regardless of it's meaning.

avery is cute. however, i will warn you that avery is most commonly known as a boy-ish name. However, it depends on the last name too. I would definitely put it on a short list (3-5) if I were expecting a daughter
