Wow, I think you should be more incosiderate. Its like asking if someone would get paid to live in Hawaii. Just because the climates are diffferent doesnt meen anything, i'm a Minnesotan, and it gets just as cold here as it does in Alaska. First of all, some of us just dont care how cold it is, were tough and we put up with it. Second of all, some of us love the cold weather, hense we love hockey. That is one of the most uninformed incosiderate questions I have heard in a while.


I have already informed Eric \/ in an e-mail, that I lived in Alaska for two years while out of college, and that I know about getting my fair share of money. It was just the way the man asked the question, and the fact many other states do that as well.

The Federal government gives all residents a yearly stipend for living in Alaska. This is because of the oil produced there and for use of the pipeline. I don't know how much it is but it's a pretty good chunk of change.

Edit: The state pays residents. Last year they paid $1,850.28 per person.

If you can land a job there, the pay will be significantly higher than that in the lower 48. The cost of living there is also higher, but if you can budget well, you'll come out much ahead after a few years.
