your vagina and/or mouth has a normal flora that protects it from infections. at times yeast out numbers bacteria, resulting in a yeast infection. some causes of yeast infections are: antibiotics (which kill both good and bad bacteria leaving nothing but yeast to grow), too much sugar in the bloodstream, (especially in diabetics)is also a cause. if your husband hasn't been circumcised, cleaning is so important to keep him from reinfecting you. years ago they painted the mouth and vagina with genitian violet a purple medicine that would kill all yeast upon contact. now they prescribe a pill (diflucan) a one dose tablet, or you can pick up an over the counter cream to be instilled into the vagina. meanwhile, avoid simple sugars such as cookies, cokes etc. you will get rid of it quick. change your panties often and wear cotton crotch kind if u have it. symptoms of a yeast infection is a foul odor with a discharge. u will probably itch. back in the day....and know this sounds gross, we would douche with buttermilk, this helps replace the natural flora and gives quick relief. gross, yes, works though. if u are desperate and can't get to the doctor. try it. infants get yeast...its called thrush (mouth). any age really can get a yeast infection. now, there are infant/toddler cases where they have found that the yeast infection was caused by molestation after being investigated. hope this helps.

Candidiasis, commonly called yeast infection or thrush, is a fungal infection of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans is the most common.Symptoms include severe itching, burning, and soreness, and irritation of the vagina and/or vulva, and a whitish or whitish-gray discharge that may have a "yeasty" smell like beer or baking bread. It may resemble cottage cheese. Pregnancy, the use of oral contraceptives, engaging in vaginal sex after anal sex in an unhygenic manner, and using lubricants with glycerine have been known to be causally related to yeast infections. Also, antibiotics, and diabetes mellitus can lead to an increased incidence in yeast infections.
