I asked a transmission question a few days ago and was told to add Lucas transmission fix to my existing fluid (1999 concorde).....when i check my fluid level now it is at full......i am afraid that by adding the 24 oz bottle of trans fix that it will be over full......is that bad?

Do not overfill the transmission. Too much fluid can cause the fluid to foam, which in turn can lead to erratic shifting, oil starvation and transmission damage. Too much fluid may also force ATF to leak past the transmission seals.

I would drain 24 oz of fluid before adding the Lucas treatment.

Not a big deal. Crawl under the car and open the transmission drain plug. (don't do it when the car is hot) Drain out a couple of quarts of fluid. That way, you can add the Lucas product and then top of the fluid until you hit the mark on the dipstick. Don't overfill.

I read your question about your transmission and I think you got some bad advice. First of all, that additive isn't going to do a thing and second, yes, 24 ounces is a little much to overfill. If it was about 10 ounces, I'd say no big deal, but 24 is too much.

I don't think it's your transmission at all that's causing the sluggish problem. It could be a number of things from your Throttle position sensor, to your fuel filter. If an automatic transmission is bad, you'd notice a problem other than just from 30-35 mph.
My first guess would be that your TPS is going bad. I seriously doubt your tranny is causing that. But bring it in to a mechanic and they should be able to pinpoint the problem.

yes this could be a problem . overfilling a automatic transmission can cause aeration in the fluid caused by some internal components churning up the fluid. this can in turn cause fluid not applying clutches properly causing slipping and excessive heat build up which could cause premature failure of clutch material. leading to transmission failure. my suggestion to you would be drain off some fluid by removing one of the cooler lines and start vehicle and drain off enough fluid to accommodate the Lucas additive. make sure transmission is full when hot. hope this helps.

Yes, do not overfill 24oz.....5-10 is OK, but that is way too much. Just loosen up the pan bolts and drop one side of the pan to drain a quart. Then you can add your lucas. Now you could get away with siphoning from the tranny dipstick tube. Good luck.

It is not okay to put power steering fluid in the transmission but it is however okay in some vehicles to put transmission fluid into the power steering system.

ummm I would say not to add it because yeah over doing it can be bad...the only way to start over is to flush your fluids...drain and then refill but put the 24 oz bottle in first and fill with new other after it.

Yes,bad You need a small hand pump to put down the filler tube to remove some fluid.

I wouldnt do it. The excess fluid may blow back through the dip stick pipe and catch on fire if it gets on your exaust manifold. I dont know what your actual problem is but it sounds like you might be better off to take it to a garage and have a mechanic do it for you. good luck.

yeah that's bad! when changing tranny fluid, u dont add fluid rather drain the old fluid & fill in a new one. over fluid may damage the oil seal of your tranny.
