I like the name Oliver. However, I would use it as a middle name rather than a first name. Ollie as a nickname is not attractive to me. It sounds cartoonish.

The name Oliver is ok.The name olli is awful and that's what the kid would be called in school.

well actually i would never name my child oliver. it sounds old fashioned. and then you have to think about all the mean kids in school's nowadays making fun of the child and his name. go with something else more natural like christopher , tyler, matthew. just not oliver
