As an entertainer, Michael Richards definitely stepped out of place because comedians know how to deal with hecklers. It doesn't matter who "heckled" whom. Many comedians have been heckled and they know how to regain the stage without stooping to racial slurs.
I do not, however, think that he owes them money. He has hurt himself and will have to probably rethink stand-up as a career. Like you said, the guys should be reimbursed their admission ticket and perhaps a free ticket to another show at that club (the theater did this for all 42 of us when we went to see Bobby and they couldn't get the projector to work - had to send us out).
You're right again in saying that people are out to make a quick buck. Sure, those guys were probably upset that the table turned on them (incorrectly) but it is a chance you take as a heckler. If they'd been fat or something, Richards could have come back with fat jokes (like in the Nutty Professor). No one would try to get compensation for that, would they?

Hey if Trent Lott can publicly state that he thinks America would've been better off with a Segregationist presidency and then come back as the senate's "MInority Whip," (I still can't get over the irony of that title) I think that any sort of financial restitution for being racially insulted is out. I'd bet you that a solid 30% of this country probably supports Michael Richards' racist rant but would never say so publicly unless they were being heckled and couldn't think of a clever comeback.

Somethings wrong with that guy. I mean, you know when you are walking down the street and some nut starts screaming at you but you can tell they are out of their minds so you more or less just feel sorry for them? That's where he's at. He needs help of some kind. People in L.A. will try to get money if they trip over their own shoelace.

I read somewhere that they didn't want money. They wanted a personal, heartfelt apology. But if what you heard is true, then no, they don't deserve money at all.
Richards is getting his Karma as we speak; I do hope this fiasco genuinely changes his perspective on life/people though.
If this is true, I should be getting money anytime I've experienced prejudice in today's society (ridiculous).
Richard's hurt HIMSELF more than he could hurt any black person IMO

He replaced into incorrect for making use of the "N" word. He could of performed it so in yet differently. i think of at first he replaced into attempting to return off as humorous yet that soured. the guy in the aim audience used the race card besides. i think of he's getting a nasty rap yet on an analogous time he's accustomed to he replaced into incorrect. Granted those 2 aim audience adult males have been very mean lively and pushed his buttons, yet Mr. Richards could of been the bigger individual and not suggested the "N" word. i think of the club that he replaced into in could of been to blame for kicking those adult males out earlier this all began. no person mentions that the black adult males called him a acceptance or 2. i think of Mr. Richards replaced into wronged by making use of the club a minimum of.

It is my belief that they were heckling him first.
NOW I do not believe that gave him the right to blow up and say the things he said, but if people think the 2 men deserve payment for what Richard did then is Richard going to get payment for them bad mouthing him as well?
I mean come on, fair is fair.
The man said sorry, but because it was a "black" person he is unforgivable?
He has NEVER said anything of its sort before.
GET OVER IT.

I dint think they deserve money, but history shows that civil suits are usually stupid. Hey O.J. was found innocent, he is still a social, broke outcast.

He embarrased them and belittled them. He's a man in the spotlight who took advantage of his stage presence to put them down horribly. And sure, why not? If you can make a quick buck off the loser-I would. What a dumb*ss racist.

He owes them absolutely NOTHING! They got what they deserved....they should have sat there and kept their big mouths shut, if they weren't enjoying the performance they could have simply gotten up and left. Act like one...get called one!
