Your car requires 91 octane fuel. Although you can use 87 octane in an emergency, perfomance and economy will suffer significantly.
Your car's computer system has a knock sensor that will prevent serious engine damage on lower octane fuel but the cost per mile for fuel is actually lower with 91 octane because the fuel economy is much better.
My C-Class gets about 30 MPG on the highway with 91 octane but barely 18 with 87 octane. And on 87 octane, it runs like a DOG.

Use at least the 91 octane. If you use a lower octane gas then it could result in knocking or predetonation, which is very very harmful to engines. You could try it with 87 but if you can afford an '06 C230 just buy the higher octane.

You can use a lower octane fuel, but you will get less power out of the engine.
Older cars would ping and knock if the octane levels were too low, but today's engines have computers that monitor combustion and will retard the timing to prevent ping and knock (also known as detonation) in an engine.
Your '06 should be fine on 87 octane but it will not perform as well. Fyi, pinging and knocking are premature/uneven combustion and will destroy an engine - if you hear your engine knocking, better go up to 91 or at least 89 octane fuel.

Fluid?? once you've been making use of the AC and there's a sufficient quantity of humidity and the fluid appears like water it really is maximum in all likelihood purely condensation (from the air) and is a widespread prevalence, If the fluid is black and greasy feeling then you fairly have an oil leak someplace (gasket problem maximum in all likelihood) no matter if it really is a minor leak (some drops) purely examine your oil better usually, no matter if it really is a "puddle" then you fairly will choose a gasket replaced. If the fluid is pink and slippery it really is computerized transmission fluid, examine the fittings and clamps to be sure if any have come loose or a line has a leak, or perchance the pan gasket choose replacing, is it "very few drops" or a "puddle" back meaning the version between checking fluid stages and taking the motorcar in for upkeep. If the fluid has a eco-friendly coloration to it it really is "coolant" and also you've a leak on your cooling equipment someplace, no matter if it really is from less than the radiator area it would want to easily be coolant that has escaped from the overflow (operating the AC causes the radiator to artwork better sturdy because engine is likewise operating the AC compressor). maximum in all likelihood the "fluid" you spot (if it appears like sparkling water) is condensation (Water in the air that has cooled and condensed) from making use of the AC and is to be envisioned, a widespread prevalence, no longer something to rigidity about. as for me, i would follow the instruction given by the manufacturer. if it says 91 octane then fill in w/ 91 octane gas otherwise by using low octane gas may affect the car performance due to increase of carbon deposit.

Don't put the cheap gas in...what does the gas gauge say, what does the gas-door flap say...
It's not an option to put lower grade gas in these cars. Period, unless your looking to do some very expensive engine damage.

You could use 87 but may end up with "pinking" in your engine...

USE THE GAS IT SAYS TO. IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO BUY A BENZ YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO BUY THE CORRECT GAS FOR IT. VEHICLE MAKERS DONT JUST TELL YOU TO RUN HIGHER OCTANE FOR NO REASON.
