Your trying to compare apples and oranges...A hummer H3 is an suv , not a car...it is an affordable,well built vehicle with unique , if unusual looks. A bmw convertible could refer to any of a number of bmw convertibles running the full gamut from relatively affordable 3 series all the way up to near 100k models. Both are fine examples of their type but near impossible to do a fair comparison.

BMW 6 series- beautiful, sexy, fast...elegant...
Hummer.- looks like an army tank.
I think to be frank that ud get a better quote on a hummer since nothing will ever happen to the damn thing (unless u crash into an 18 wheeler truck or something). The BMW will be more expensive for insurance, but I think it ll balance out when you think of the petrol prices of the Hummer.

The car you WANT to buy is the BMW. The better car is the BMW. But for insurance purposes, the H3 is cheaper. And depending on what series BMW, the H3 could cost less (~$30,000). For safety, the H3 is also the better choice. Where you live should be a factor, as well. Denver = H3, Phoenix = BMW.

A BMW would be safer, cheaper (possibly), and certainly get better gas mileage. I imagine the insurance would be cheaper, also.
