I would not cut my spouse out of my will. Whether or not you believe it, y our wife did the right thing by staying outside because (1) who would raise and love your children as much as she does if she had gone back into the fire and died (2) fireman are trained to save lives, but the least amoumt of people that they have to try to save at one time the better. If your wife had gone back in, the firemen would have had to try to save 2 lives instead of 1. If they could only save 1 which 1? (3) If you had been the 1 outside would you have gone back in for her? If you want to make sure your dog is taken care of, leave enough money to the SPCA to take careof the dog for his lifetime, see an attorney and the attorney can write it up so that your dog will be taken care of for his lifetime and any money left over will then be used by the SPCA for other animals.

Your wife stayed outside because it was too dangerous to go back into a burning house. Leaving all your assets to your 2 dogs and leaving out your family would be contested in Court. Set aside a sum in your Will to take care of your dogs and leave the rest to your wife. That's the way it should be.
