For acting only.
Models do not have unions.

Acting - if you are looking at listing for union members, that means the casting director is only looking for those who are part of a union - either AFTRA, or SAG. Because they will be paying union rates to those who are casted. They will list the unions that are accepted.

Non-union - means you are not apart of any union and can be paid by whatever fees that are stated in the contract. Can be at union pay rates, can be at more than union rates, or it can be less than union rates

solid out of the recommendations so far there seem to be a minimum of two so as that it will evaluate even though their recommended.. each and every physique who knows even though knows that the story of a UAW worker making 70$ an hour was BULLSH*T, it was a made up be certain from some anti union fool, and human beings lapped it up like gravy.. in actual actuality without unions, concerns like technique protection, properly pay, reward, properly working circumstances, and equality would have NEVERRRRR been seen... additionally the guy that suggested maximum unions are ran by way of the federal government is a fool... the main important unions are the creation trades.. that are by no potential variety or variety mandated by way of the federal government..

If you don't know the difference then you are a Non Union Actor.
Union meas that you got accespted to one of the actors guilds, such as: Sag, Aftra, Equity, etc.

So from now on you need to submit yourself only for Non Union jobs. You can find many non union jobs at - http://www.actorspages.org/viewnotices.php

You can also post your pictures and resume for free.

Union means you are a member of (SAG) the Screen Actors Guild or The Federation of TV and Radio Actors (AFTRA). Non-union means, you are not a member of a union.

The modeling industry does not have a union. The modeling industry is located in New York City. If you want to try to model, you must live in NYC. The minimum height requirement for the top model agencies is: 5'8" tall.

From the Screen Actors Guild website:
What is the Screen Actors Guild?
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is a labor union founded in 1933 to protect performers.

Primarily concerned with wages and working conditions, SAG negotiates and enforces collective bargaining agreements that establish equitable levels of compensation, benefits and working conditions for performers.

SAG is affiliated with The American Federation of Labor-Congress ofIndustrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) through the Associated Actors and Artists of America.

From the AFTRA website:
The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) is a national labor union representing over 70,000 performers, journalists and other artists working in the entertainment and news media.

AFTRA's scope of representation covers broadcast, public and cable television (news, sports and weather; drama and comedy, soaps, talk and variety shows, documentaries, children's programming, reality and game shows); radio (news, commercials, hosted programs); sound recordings (CDs, singles, Broadway cast albums, audio books); "non-broadcast" and industrial material as well as Internet and digital programming.

AFTRA's membership includes an array of talent - sound recording membership includes artists who bring pop, rock, country, classical, folk, jazz, comedy, Latin, hip hop, rap and R&B to the world. AFTRA members perform in television and radio advertising, non-broadcast video, audio books and messaging, and provide their skills for developing technologies such as interactive games and Internet material.
