You can get a Best Answer if the Asker, or the voters, judge your answer to be the one most useful to them.
*That'll be me again, then. (Unfortunately, there also seems to be a knack to picking up violations at the moment too).

Not really. What I've done is just answer questions to the best of my knowledge. It always surprises me when I get best answer, so I guess my advice would be not to aim for best answer, but simply aim to help the person.
Sometimes it does take a witty answer, though. But just answer honestly. Hopefully this helps a bit. =D

be honest and helpful! - if you don't like a question then don't answer it, i've seen loads where people have just left nasty answers, what's the point in that!? if i'm not interested in something then i just don't answer.. moral of the story - if you've got nothing nice to say then say nothing at all!!!
seriously tho try to be helpful and informative, and if you've found the answer online etc then give the details to the website so the person can check out the info themselves.. x

I've found that the first person to answer a question usually gets the votes if it goes to a vote. You can also vote for your own answer, but that's rather sad. Otherwise, it's usually the first person to give the correct or most informative answer. Also, people tend not to bother with long answers, so I'll stop here!

You can answer questions that don't have many answers, people appreciate an answer to a question especially if it's the only one, or the only one that isn't rude.
