If this is for a Christmas present - don’t. Almost 100% of all dogs and cats given as Christmas presents end up going to the pound within six months. If you really want to give someone a pet 1) wait until spring and 2) give them money and let them pick out their own. But if this is for yourself Miami is probably one of the better places to get a dog in the winter months. The big problem for most of us is housebreaking a dog when there’s snow on the ground and the poor little thing just doesn’t want to go out that door. But for you - that’s not a problem. If you’re looking for a smaller breed, and specifically, if you’re an apartment dweller, I’d recommend a daschund. Shorthaired, great personality and easy to deal with in an apartment. But you might want to think about rescuing a dog instead of a puppy. Try here. Good luck.
