It happened suddenly. Could it be clog fuel filter, distributer, or spark plug?

not a transmission problem because it happens when I am in neutral too.

If carbureted it could be the accelerator pump.

It happened to a 1989 Maxima I used to have and I ended up having to replace the transmission. I hope your situation isn't as serious.

I suspect it may be a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump is bad. Change the fuel filter first. If that doesnt do it it may be the fuel pump.

You probably have a problem with your transmission. It sounds like it is not shifting properly. You should get it checked as soon as possible.
