If I'm spending a substantial amount of money on an article of clothing then it should not be produced with cheap material. The material should be able to withstand a couple dozen washes. If it's relatively inexpensive then the cost matters. I definitely like any other girl love a good sale. How much would I be saving from the actual cost? Brand names aren't really that important considering most of them are manufactured via sweat shops.

Don't waste your time only hunting for brand name clothes--cheap clothes are nice too, and just because they're $50 cheaper doesn't mean they're any less good in quality. Just find something that is a fair price, has a nice style that goes along with your own stlye, and feels nice.
however, brand name clothes are nice too--but personally, I don't see the difference between a demin jacket I got at Dotts for $5 and the one I got at Hollister for $30...
Also, people who wear brand names are usually labeled as 'preppy', but labels mean nothing in the real world.
Also, think of how often you'll wear it. If it's a one time use, pass it by!

I look for what I can find that's in style first. I wouldn't want to buy anything that was so last year. But if it isn't in style and it looks good, I'll buy it, to be in my own style.
Then I look for the price. (Which most people do) I would see if it's affordable. If it's really good, I'll save up for it another time.
Then I look at the material; smooth, soft, thin, cheap. If it's cheap and looks good, I wouldn't buy it, cause that means that I would only be able to wash it a couple of times or else it wouldn't be the same.)
But overall, I look for my size, don't want to find something great and they don't have your size! %_% It would be a total bummer.

I first think to myself, "where would I wear this?" because if it's something I wouldn't wear in front of my parents or to school, it's usually a no. Then I check the price tag, which sometimes becomes bad because I will buy things because they are cheap and never ever wear them. Then I say "how trendy is this?" I don't want my shirt to suddenly be passe in about a week, I like classic styles and solid colors...they last forever.

for me- i look for brand, doesnt have to be super famous - like my favorite store is J. Crew. but for bags it needs to be designer- ie chanel.
i look for price- shouldnt be very cheap unless its very stylish. i spend about 70-230$ on pants. 50-190$ on skirts, 50-300$ on sweaters, 150-780$ on jackets, 20-75$ on shirts, 100-1000$ on bags, 60-150$ on belts, and 50-250$ on shoes.
