I would like to walk/dine on the beach during the day; nightlife and fireworks; cinemas, theatre, shopping, cybercafé, not too pricey accommodation and able to find friendly people!

Try the " Baia de Monte Gordo Hotel" which is in the historic area of Monte Gordo. There's plenty of restaurants, bars and nightlife. It's also only 100 metres approximately from the beach, and also near the casino which also has shows. Fairly in expensive at this time of year, so the beach isn't a fun place to swim, but at least it's full of life . These people have a good selection of hotels in the area for a stay

I would go to Albufeira. There are loads of restaurants and good nightlife with bars, clubs, pubs.

It has also loads to do during the day if you like history and see monuments.

Weather wise is also good although the general weather in Portugal this year is not so good.

It's cheaper then vilamoura.

There will be a 3night concert free of charge!

Tavira - the town is nice but not too touristy and then you have access to the beautiful sand spit beaches nearby
