Always? Empirically always? That's a little sad. I find that it's more that we love them so much and that we feel like they're pulling away. Not that they really are (although that's not necessarily 100% true all the time either). If you really love them, give them their space. If they really love you, they'll be back and close to you. Everyone needs their "away time".
