i was accused of stealing, which I didn't, they never told me about it but they told other people. Is that illegal in any way?

I would confront them, let them know you take pride in your honesty and want to be a good employee. who wants a reference in this computer age saying your a thief

No it is not illegal. It is just a form of gossip and is constitutionally protected under the First Amendment, Bill of Rights. If it costs you your job, you might be able to sue for slander but the money and time involved would not make it worthwhile.

they gotta have proof that u did it. well no is not illegal cause they could be asking other people who u working if they saw u stealing something. its illegal if they accuse you of stealing if they didnt have proof and they fired u

Yes, it's called slander. To recover any damages, you would have to show that you've incurred some tangible harm. Damage to reputation has to include some financial setback. Do you really want to hire a lawyer?

Yes it is. It is called defamation of character. You have grounds for a civil suit. At least in Texas you do. Check with an attorney.

it is Illegal for any one to accuse you of any thing dishonest immoral or anything else that defames you, so if you can prove this person did directly say that you stole something you can sue him and no doubt collect a good amount to help restore your good name

It is not "illegal."
If someone told a lie about you, it is slander. It is a civil wrong. If you can prove damages, you can sue that person in civil court.
