I can find his heritage, rise to power, yet can't seem to find actual numbers relating to the deaths caused by Hitler.

You will probably never find actual numbers. But some of the holocaust websites are a good start. Also, beyond Jews, Gays, the mentally and physically disabled, and Gypsies, Hitler also killed millions of christians, etc. so keep that in mind.
