Well if you live in a multi-family a day off might be nice...some hand written offers to mow the lawn or shovel, whatever might be time saving or helpful.
Gift cards work for just about anyone, however make sure you know her/him well...ie...a gift card to a home improvement store could be helpful or it could be misconstrued like you want them to do more work.
If you've done a lot of damage or plan to leave them high & dry...maybe a big bottle of booze for their grieving period!!

I agree, just a card. Unless your landlord has done something special for you, like let you move in early or didn't make you pay a deposit. Then I would suggest a fruit basket or a nice tin of cashews (or mixed nuts-cashews can be expensive).

If you know them personally, a poinsettia,Christmas cactus,or a baked item.If you are only in a pay your rent and leave relationship, just give them a "Happy Holidays", as you leave out the door.

If they are a good landlord, a nice bottle of wine or a basket of home baking.
How thoughtful!

Get your rent to them on time! Other than that, make them some friendship bread or monkey bread! it is easy and good.
