I have my friends over and we still use the N64, and refuse to make the jump to newer gens (except for halo 2, of course).
I usually play super smash bros. or mario kart with 3 other people. Those games are good, but the single-player isn't quite good, since AI is really stupid and/or really cheap (cheap in mario kart, dumb in smash).
Mario party 2 (not 1 or 3) was also good. 1 felt like the AI was cheap, and you have to watch out for those "rotate the stick" games. and 3 had waluigi and so on, so you could sorta tell they were starting to milk it at that point.
Ocarina of time is probably the only real good RPG-esque game on that console (majora's mask is iffy, and only recommended to diehard fans).
And as for platforming, mario 64 and the banjo-kazooie games are good. banjo-tooie gave you more stuff to do, bigger worlds to explore, but more junky mini-games that will probably have you yawning after a few mins, so there's a bit of a trade-off.
So yeah, that's it. My opinion, smash bros. for multi-player, OoT for 1-player.

Mario 64! Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a close 2nd.

super smash bros sry if that isnt the right spelling or something,but its classic.of course there is other great gamesbut in my opinion this is the best.
