Drink hot tea. Those menthol cough drops also help. Seeing as you are a cheerleader, I assume you have no choice but to yell whenever you have a competition/game. Try not to use it unless you MUST. The best way to heal your throat is do rehydrate and let it heal. Hot tea + menthol cough drops + rest = voice

Try to prevent it before it starts, don't yell from the throat, use the diaphragm to push the sound out. Keep yourself well rested and hydrated. If that all fails try warm honey and lemon tea and lozenges.

Drink lots of water and use something to keep your throat moist. You have to conserve your voice a bit since you are not meant to yell at the top of your lungs every day.

Cheerleader eh?

You may have yelled so much you got nodes.

Nodes permanently affects your vocal cords, and if it is bad can ruin them forever. That is the #1 reason that if you are any good, your choir director tells you not to cheer lead, or yell.

Ask a doctor about nodes.
