Ok, i have this friend and her dad grows and sells pot. she isn't allowed to have anyone over because they're afraid that people will find out. Her dad already went to jail once and was even shot because of it but that was a LONG time ago. The thing is, now they like have all kinds of money and they're always shopping and buying expensive stuff and to be honest i'm kinda jealous and dont think its fair. my parents work very hard for their money. ok, her dad works too but then gets all this extra money from the pot. i mean, there is TONS of pot there (so to speak). i'm like one of the only ppl she can have over for some reason. i guess they think we're the type of ppl who won't say anything, but it's really not right! What do I do?

There is no doubt, yes you should report him. There are so many reasons why but here are just a few to ponder. This person is making money (profit) from the grief and misery of others. This will probably get a hiding from the pro pot lobby group, but it is a mind altering substance which affects individuals, families, friends. There are some that will say there is nothing wrong with dope. There are those that say it does harm the body over time and depending on the amount. The stuff grown these days is stronger than a few years ago. I do not agree with anyperson getting money through illegal means. The second point is that of fairness. Your parents do an honest days work and get paid. They live within their means. I imagine they would like to give you more, go on more holidays but your parents probably have principles and try and do the right thing. This they hope you will learn and is a gift to you from them. It also sounds like his is very self centred and selfish. You state he was even shot because of the drugs and he still puts his family in danger. As I said, I don't think there really is a choice. He should be busted

Hell no. If you value anything at all keep your mouth shut. I understand it's not "right" to sell drugs but everyone has the right to make their own decisions in life. From experience people that deal as much pot as you're saying shouldn't be messed with. leave it alone. If the situation makes you uncomfortable don't go there. talking other people's business like that could get you in trouble. It could mess up your friends life too.

You are in the midst of a dangerous situation. It would be best if you stayed away from there. You could easily get into trouble too.
I do think you should report this "suspected" pot grower. Think of how many children, teens and adults are being sucked into drugs. If you stay silent it may be your brother that gets hooked. Good luck with this decision.
Jealousy is a normal human emotion. Try not to let it control you. Talk to your parents about this situation if you can. They can see it from an adult perspective.

Decide for yourself what you want to do.
Make sure that you understand that if you think the fact that it is illegal is NOT in itself a reason to tell, that you are then doing one of two things: making a selfish judgment based on your envy or making a moral judgment based on what you feel are the good vs. the bad consequences of his business.
If it is just because of your envy, I think you know the answer.
If you are making the moral judgment, you will follow your heart, and that is a good thing.
If you think that the fact that it is illegal IS in itself a reason to tell, then you have no reason to ask us.

I would suggest you let him get caught on his own. Ratting him out will cause more trouble for you and them than you should wish - even though it is the right thing to do. More importantly however - you risk guilt by association, so you may not want to hang out over there too often. In the end, you will revisit your decision over and over and over ... so you need to do what is in your character.

You can call the police and leave and anoymous tip but then your friends parents might go to jail and the social services will take care of your friend,but on the other side its not right to theach their kid that criminal things is right
if the parents are abusing maby your friend is not feeling so good althu it looks like it on the outside because money and stuff isnt all in the world .....maby you should talk to some at the school

Just because something is illegal, doesn't mean it's wrong. Live and let live, figure out what is important to your life, not ways to hurt others. Above all, never do or say anything behind somebody's back that you wouldn't do or say in front of them. Strength of character has it's own rewards.

Try not to let jealousy get the best of you. I just don't think it's worth it. There will always be people who have more money than you.
