i always heard that you should try to knock one out yourself before sex to last the longest and was curious how soon should it be done before hand.. im assuming a few hours before is not going to matter too much as that would give alot of recovery time? but anyone know the best time?

1-4 hours.
You have to allow yourself at least 30 minutes if you want to be able to get it up again :P
Any longer than 4 hours and the affect may wear off. Any shorter than an hour and you may risk 'not performing'.

Recovery time for a young guy is about 45 minutes.
Deciding to rub one out beforehand depends on your age. If you are in your late teens or 20's--good idea. If you are in your 30's -- your call.
If you are in your 40's onward--not a good idea. You'll feel like watching ESPN versus having sex.
BTW, don't drink prior to vigorous sex. You won't be able to fulfill your manly duties.

What works for me is having a quick one with the partner, letting them know that best is yet to come the second time round (which it often is). In further reassuring them, I also share the fact that a man will perform best the second time round as he no longer is overwhelmed with anxiety.
In doing that remedy we both benefit, well at least I benefit twice. ;-)

Have your girlfriend work you off by hand, and then do it as soon as it gets up again will give you the most staying power.
