I'm Italian-American. Some people get all upset about that designation, saying that the hyphen shouldn't be there, that we're all Americans no matter what. However, it's just a designation meaning that I'm an American whose family came over from Italy. I'm correctly listed as Caucasian on all medical forms, and being called "white" is not a problem for me, because I don't fit into any of the other available racial designations (I'm not exactly Asian, am I?) ...although, actually, I'm somewhat olive-skinned and not truly white. Anyhow, it's all a series of labels, and just a handy way of distinguishing race or ethnicity.

I truly have not in any respect gotten offended from someone calling me "black" fairly of "African-American". *I* say i'm black. Who cares? Many American blacks have better than purely African blood in them, besides. And so a approaches as no longer tracing our lineage decrease back "better than seventy 5 years," information weren't precisely saved on us, as you recognize...despite the indisputable fact that the very actuality there's a touch better brown in our epidermis shows African descent. So, if some favor to assert African-American (no matter if that is black human beings speaking, or the different race), it isn't in any respect a difficulty, and that i do not recognize why your putting forward "black" IS. i have not in any respect pulled the race card (many human beings do not. you purely see the vocal ones), and that i'm doing properly, financially, and otherwise. i do not ignore the previous, yet i do not use it as a crutch, both. I also do not blame the white human beings of at the moment b/c I make my personal way and attempt to assist others do an same, no count number what race.

I agree with you. Although, I'm black and thats what I prefer to be called. You should probably correct those people who are calling you plain white. I don't know if requesting this from people who would probably never meet you would make much of a difference.
P.S... are you confused???? You have other questions on here where you call yourself white.

How do you go from white pride to wanting to be called italian? But okay whatever since that's what you want to be called it sounds like you are actually getting more brain cells dumped into your head which is what you needed.

I'm plain white and I'm okay. I tickle frogs with chopsticks at night and I weave wicker baskets all day. Long live Scotland!
FREEDOM!
I will if you promise to call me Scottish American and not Mr. Whitey!
Honestly, people, this is getting ridiculous.
