Well, sure! It was to "Christianize" the pagans so that they could turn from their Pagan gods and come to know the one True God!

Also, December 25th is 4 days after the shortest day of the year -- when the light is starting to get longer, to increase. John the Baptist's birthday is celebrated on June 24th....2 days after the longest day of the year -- when the days start to decrease in the amount of light we have: "He must increase and i must decrease" -- John 3:30.

The point is to celebrate his birth. Does anyone really know when He was born? I don't think the date matters all that much. In my family, we sometimes celebrate on a different day. The children are allowed to open their presents, but any other festivities will be put off until we can all be together.

Nobody knows the exact date when Jesus was born, it's no lie. But, if no one knows, what is wrong in making the 25th. December a day to celebrate His birth? It's a tradition from many many, many years ago. That's my opinion.

The pagans still have a winter celebration then. It's called Yule, and it is fun--like Christmas, but generally with drinking. (The way I celebrate it anyway.)

Good job. Easter is also a Pagan holiday. Christians do a lot of things that arent in the bible and it can be traced to the corupt Catholic church

Not the Winter equinox, Winter Solstice. Equinox is Fall and Spring. And the question should be is why not on January 5th, like the Greeks do? That is why they split from Rome.

It is what it is. To me, it has always just been a chance to get together with family and celebrate.
