I'm 25 years old and still believe in Santa its the thought and love around the idea that makes Santa real. At some age they will figure out that hes not a tangible thing but more of an idea let them find this out on there own.

I'm 42 and I still believe in the spirit of Santa Claus, not the heavily commercialized version living in the North Pole, but the selfless acts of kindness that seem to multiple this time of year. The Legend of Santa does have it's roots in fact, and a version of Santa exists in many countries and cultures around the world.

My son is 12. He will be 13 in December. Last year I finally asked him if he really believed in Santa Claus. He told me no, and admitted he only pretended to believe in Santa because he felt it made me happy to pretend, AND then too, he also got MORE presents Christmas day. Needless to say, I felt really stupid (he's my only child). Having said THAT, my son IS immature and fairly spoiled. But, if I had it to do over, I would have taken him for the final "Sit on Santa's Lap" photo at age 10, and afterwords, over lunch, I'd have explained to him how St. Nicholas/Santa used to give toys to all good children, but now mommies & daddies do it for him, because he's too old to visit ALL children... And then, since he's/she's the oldest child, I'd make the child promise not to tell their sibling(s) about Santa/St. Nicholas getting too old to keep up with his work load. The idea I would also try to impart to my child is that Christmas and St. Nicholas/Santa is REALLY about GIVING, AND (if you are not Jewish) about the Baby Jesus. Gifts are given to remember the gifts given by the three wisemen to baby Jesus; to remember Christmas is a time to celebrate giving!

I wouldn't worry about how old is too old. Just have fun with it they will let you know when they are too old. Enjoy it while you can and sometimes even the older kids will lead you on making you think they still believe only for the smaller kids sake. Don't rush it none of our kids do any more they are too old 14 16 and 23 It would be kind of nice to have little ones here again that did though, NOT!!! waiting for grandkids now so we can spoil them and send them home :)

I'd let them find out themselves. And I think the age of 60 is too old to believe in Santa.

Let them find out on their own. The most important thing is that when they do find out you let them know the truth behind the legend. Tell them about Saint Nick and the spirit of giving. When my little sister discovered last year, to make sure Christmas was just as meaningful without Santa Clause we came up with all kinds of surprises for our parents. We were able to play Santa Clause for them. I told her that giving to others is a way to keep Saint Nick alive and more importantly to keep the Christ in Christmas!

Ummm, I'm 42 and I still believe....
Let me clarify - I believe in the spirit of giving, the joy in a child's face when s/he opens that one special gift... the desire to do a good deed anonymously... you tell me - how old is too old to feel the spirit of the legend of Santa?
