Is there a comma after the word pools in this sentence?

To begin with, most bodies of water are gloomy, murky pools in which there is little visibility.

Thanks :)

No, you don't need a comma after pools. You can omit a comma when it does not cause confusion in the sentence.

To put a comma after 'pools' would be wrong, because commas generally reflect pauses in speech. For example, "I spent yesterday playing cricket, listening to Mozart and talking about the meaning of life.'

Between adjectives in a predicative position (as in your sentence "gloomy, murky pools"), commas are always used between adjectives.

If words or expressions are put in unusual places or interrupt the normal progression or flow of a sentence, they are generally separated off by commas - 'Tony Blair, the Prime Minister, was not available for comment.'

A comma is normally used between a reporting expression and diect speech - 'Slapping me on the back, he said, "How's things?"'

When subordinate clauses begin sentences, they are often separated by a comma - 'If you are ever in Auckland, come and see me.'

Commas are also used to separate large numbers into groups of three figures, separating off thousands and millions - 7,582,201.

Those are the main uses of the comma.

No there isn't as you are using Pools as a plural, by adding a comma you are saying in which there is little visibility belongs to the Pool which it doesn't!./
