I'm only 16, but I think that music from the 70's was much more thought-out, better lyrics, more original, and much better overall than music nowadays. I do listen to a lot of modern music, but I think that the reason that the songs from the 70's have been immortalized and played over and over on radio stations 30 years after they have been made is because they were one of a kind. Longer shelflife. Now, you can like a song, but once another that sounds like it comes along, you move on. What do you think?

Wise beyond your years. Rock artist from the 70's (NOT DISCO) were more into putting out good to great albums. Now artist put out an album with one or two good songs surrounded by twelve more songs of filler(example.....AFI. Sorry AFI fans I listened to the new album, he has a great singing voice. Why the throat metal????)

Then there are great artist that don't get the air play that they deserve because the don't have a hit on MTV(example...DISHWALLA. They have put out 5 out albums since 1994). MTV is musics natural enemy. It has pretty much killed of good rock.

They are very few band out there now that will be remembered 30 yrs from now. THE FOO FIGHTERS will be one of those bands.

RUSH, AEROSMITH & CHEAP TRICK are still out there and STILL SOUND GREAT! But they are the last of their kind.

Thats my rant....you may go to the bathroom now.

yeah i totally agree. it used to be that when you go to a concert there was an actual performance-like cher or barbara mandrell. they'd have costume changes and actually work for the audience who paid to come see them. now they just stand there and sing and usually dont change their clothes. they don't work as hard and don't have the real quality of lyrics that there used to be. now it's all about sex and women. country music has seemed to be the least changing but unfortunately it has become more materialized as the younger generations emerge. it used to be that at awards shows artists would wear their very best dress. now artists wear jeans or 50 lbs worth of jewelry and skimpy outfits, that is if they wear clothes at all and not just pasties. lyrics used to be real and about people's lives. i find i have a new song favorite all the time. there's more variety which can be good and bad. i'm glad someone else also thinks this is true as i do. i thought i was the only one.

Yes the definition has changed. Music used to rock. Now, a majority of it sucks.

People are still making good music (as well as awful music), it just might not be as easy to hear it on the radio.

There is still a lot of good music being made; you just can't find it on MTV.
