Candy canes in coffee cups on the counter. Garland over the doors. Lots of red and white - bows, large ornaments, a North Pole sign marker striped red and white. Perhaps offer some holiday specials, too; like hot tea with pepperming, hot chocolate with peppermint stirring sticks, and coffee with chocolate-covered peppermint stirring sticks. Happy Holidays!

Have a small decorated tree by the front door. Christmas lights outlining the windows. If you have an area where you sell coffee items, perhaps have individual Christmas mugs with a single serving bag of coffee or cocoa inside and a candy cane. Also have Christmas music playing.
Some coffee shops that I've been to drape tinsel garland along the counter. You could also do that with greenery.

How about a Christmas tree decorated with coffee cups or Santa & wife taking a coffee break. I'd love to do this shop. It would be so much fun. I like that idea of the coffee bean garland too.

My favorite breakfast nook/coffee shop in NY has a train running around the entire restaurant, all the kids young and old love to watch it. They also have statues of famous movie stars that they dress up with Santa hats - cute!

without sounding like a big grump.
howabout not bothering with the decorations,
a lot of people like a shop that is not festive,
coffee and forget about the season of joy and high bills,
unless you're going infor a best shop decorated in christmas spirit competion.

the one thing i request is that you choose your colour scheme and stick to it eg: green and silver/ red and gold/ red and silver/ red and green you get the idea.... because the one thing that i hate at Christmas is seeing too many colours in tinsel all at the same time it gives me a headache...
for some cheap and effective decorations try collecting pine cones autumn leaves and twigs and spray painting them for some interesting floral displays and tree hangings...if you don't have time for it you can buy them but doing it yourself is quite fun!
good luck with the business

If your goal is to not offend varying religions then you should stick with lots of pine boughs and gold and/or red bows and white lights.
If you desire to make a statement of your religion (after all, that is what Christmas is all about) then you may want to set out a nativity scene and a tree.

one of my favorite restaurants in miami (Miss Saigon) hangs these beautifull glass bulbs (tree ornaments) from the ceiling using nylon/fishing wire. the lighting inside is subdued so it looks like they are floating in the air. they also hang some green garlands entwined with red and gold ribbons. its beautifull.
